Gun Rights in Peril

GOA wrote an article entitled: Gun Rights in Peril. I couldn't agree more. Now more than ever we need to mobilize those in favor of protecting our freedoms to join our ranks. Ask your friends who love our constitution to join their favorite local & national gun rights groups. The greater the numbers we can mobilize, the louder we will resonate in the ears of congress members. Obama is hopeless - he'll sign any anti-freedom legislation that comes across his desk. Our only hope is placing the fear of loosing the next election into anyone in congress that dares to infringe on our freedoms and natural but 2nd Amendment protected right to keep & bear arms.

If you live in Arizona I recommend AZCDL as a great local group to join that works very hard to protect our freedoms. For National groups there are many to choose from. Pick a few that best align with your goals, I have some of my favorites listed on the right under "Gun Rights Sites."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are much more important issues at stake than just guns. There are these things like the economy, health care, war, education, ect. Why care so much about a piddly pistol?

I certainly have additional concerns - for example Obama being one of those who supported forcing banks to give the loans to people who could not afford them in order to avoid huge penalties, and the fact that Obama plans to raise taxes when we're in the middle of the same economic crisis he, Clinton, and the Democrats caused by forcing the banks to go wild with "predatory loans" to avoid the fines, certainly concern me.

However, the right to bear arms protects all other rights. How politicians view it tells you whether or not they consider you to be an equal citizen whose freedoms should be protected or if they consider you a lowly peasant to be lorded over, controlled, and supervised.

"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual… as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of." Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp

You guys are just crazy, pure and simple. There are people that are being denied basic human rights, right here in the U.S. Let's focus on that before we start worrying about guns, of all things.

And as anyone with a TV set or an internet connection knows, Obama plans to lower taxes for the vast majority of people. Good luck spreading the lies, though. :)

Looks like you got a live one there Dustin. People like Josh are fun to debate on this topic because once they start to lose the argument or cannot back up their claims with fact and logic they start in with the name calling. It just took one sentence from you to have Josh label you a crackpot. He must be related to our friend Verdon up here in Canada.

On a bright note, I had to drop off some used clothing at my local church tonight ( Nov 6 ) so out of curiosity I took a look inside where the altar is. Well not to worry because its still Jesus on the cross above the altar and has not been replaced with a picture of Obama. At least for now anyway:)

Time to fight for what we believe. We have some catching up to do with the liberals and I'm ready to do what it takes.

JOSH: Did you really just talk about human rights??? You must mean the fact that Obama voted to allow babies to be left to die in a closet if the abortion failed and they were "born alive". It was called the "Born Alive Act of 2002" so go read about that and then come talk to me about human rights you retard.

Below are my blog thoughts and info on Obama's gun control. Also, peep out the video of the lady who was raped, the robbery, etc.

Eric: Glad to hear that for sure!
Kevin: thanks for the links :)

Josh: Interesting that you mention Lies. Obama has been caught in lies many times, just one of which was on the exact topic you bring up. You see, he lied saying everyone making less than 250K/yr would get a tax cut under his plan, when in fact he plans to allow the existing tax cuts to expire raising income taxes for everyone who pays income taxes. He also plans to raise the death tax, the dividends tax, and the capital gains tax, all of which would hurt senior citizens on tight budgets trying to survive on retirement savings.

So if you want to see a bunch of lies, go to the Obama web site. You won't find any lies here.

dustin... The right to bear arms does not 'protect all other rights', indeed nothing really has the power to protect all other rights (whether they those within the Bill of Rights or more universal human rights)except for a collective desire to do so.

I feel strongly that a concentration on one of the minor rights (that is, taking more effort to protect the right to bear arms than to say, rightto free speech or right to practice religion) gives preferential status to those rights that may seem controversial, or those which divide the US population.

Perhaps Obama should agree to disagree on the issue of gun control, or perhaps he will use his upcoming nominations to the Supreme Court to put an end to this issue once and for all.

maxlemprerie: While I do stand up to protect all rights enumerated in the bill of rights (Check out some of my posts on the infringement of the 1st Amendment for example.) I disagree with your thesis that the Second Amendment does not protect the others.

Just talk to members of the pink pistols for example - they use their guns to protect their lives & liberties from those who would commit hate crimes against them. Guns are used over 2 million times a year to protect life, limb, and liberty from criminal attack (you loose your liberty when a thug tells you that you have to submit to his or her will or loose your life). 98% of the time no shot is fired - simply looking down the barrel of your gun makes most thugs submit to citizen arrest or run from you. As a result most never make the news - a crime that ended without bloodshed is seldom newsworthy to the mainstream media.

Additionally a government that would fear the arms of its citizens enough to want to remove them is truly a government to be feared indeed. We will never loose our liberty so long as we maintain our arms. A tyrannical government would fall quickly when faced with an 80 million plus member armed guerrilla army of private citizens. That is why all tyrannical governments first disarm its citizens before it begins to commit horrible acts of terror against its own citizens.

There is one thing that is probably correct. Obama will try to put an end to this issue once and for all. It seems that he would like to put an end to the constitution once and for all.

If not for the 2nd Amendment we wouldn'thave any others--and by the way the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with duck hunting.

I got a feeling that when the Obama drones see that they are the ones (along with all the greedy, rich white folks clinging to guns and religion) that get to pay for all this "change" they may start screaming "no we can't!" But I digress...

Dustin, I am new to this board and am glad it is here. I am thankful for your willingness to stand up for the First Freedom. I will be frequent here.

Excellent points kpyrpwdrdry, thanks!

To quote Dustin, "Additionally a government that would fear the arms of its citizens enough to want to remove them is truly a government to be feared indeed. This is so true and a simple history lesson. Unfortunately, most people are as uninformed about this as they were before they voted a few days ago. No one cared to ask (except the alternative media) about his terrorist associations, only what kind of pie was his favorite. All this while they attempted to run Govenor Palin through the mud--unsuccessfully. This kind of mindless following is troubling.

But to comment on what you said that I quoted, I believe that it was Jefferson that said: "The tree of liberty must occasionally be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Hopefully we don't find ourselves there, but again...history...history...history...this is a young country...and historically it has only taken 3% of the population.

I would be more interested in debating intelligent, rational people, so I think I'm done here. The very fact that some of you are saying that Obama voted FOR leaving half aborted fetuses to die on their own is asinine. That's a rarely used word, asinine. Most of you may have to look it up. You know what the truth is, even if you refuse to accept it.

Obama/Biden 08. Reason finally won, ladies and gentlemen.

kpyrpwdrdry said...

Nice man, you can't/don't have an argument so you attack personally. Very nice. Even better is the old argument that all conservatives must be stupid or even "asinine" if I may. Guess I should feel fortunate that I lucked my way through a Master's degree....being so asinine and all...

I agree that there are a ton of issues to be dealt with, but I doubt that we could agree what issues those would be. With all respect, you probably are in the wrong place...the folks here hold the constitution above the president. Government, at its best, is a necessary evil.

Great point kpyrpwdrdry. Like Eric said "People like Josh are fun to debate on this topic because once they start to lose the argument or cannot back up their claims with fact and logic they start in with the name calling"

Josh: if you want to honestly debate intelligent people without the necessity of name calling you won't find more intelligent people anywhere on the web than the folks who hang out here. If you want to go hang with people who think just like you than yes this is not the place to be.

As for Obama's votes to NOT protect the lives of babies who survive abortion (ie they come out of the womb during a late term abortion attempt & survive) - that is well established. He doesn't even deny it - he only argues that he had to vote that way as he was worried it might grant rights to babies & endanger his pro-abortion stance.

All the reaffirmation understanding does is it takes a secured advance and moves it outside of the impacts of a liquidation release. All you're stating is you need to continue everything business as usual pretty much as though you never documented liquidation. payday loans
