NH: Bill to Secede Due to Usurpation of Power

New Hampshire is considering House Concurrent Resolution 6 - a resolution to secede if the Federal Government attempts additional usurpation of power under specific circumstances.

What a clear way to send a strong message to the US Congress & the White House that they had better not attempt a ban on the sale of semi automatic weapons (AKA AWB), nor any type of federal gun owner registration or licensing like that in proposed HR 45. I think we should introduce similar resolutions in as many States as possible.

Hi Dustin
I am very happy to see a State and its people standing up to the Federal Goverment. I hope more States will begin to do the same.

In Montana we have this written into our state constitiution. All states should assert their sovereignty.

I'll just note the IF here plus the unwritten if. Exactly who is it that determines if the fedgov has gone to far? And how many days until the secession occurs?

Even so I think it is a good step to take but words are only letters unless there is a will behind the words.

Doesn't AZ already have something like this? HRC 2034 back in 2004?

Hi Shawn, the only HCR 2034 I was able to find was from the year 2000, which if enacted would have declared the resolution to abolish Arizona's ties with the Federal government under certain conditions (such as any attempt to confiscate weapons, or in event of martial law declaration w/out support of Arizona) was held in the House committee of the whole, & never made it to a floor vote.

Other details here.
