David Griffith: Unarmed Victim Zones
David Griffith wrote an article in Policemag with the title: Unarmed Victim Zones - When the only person in the room with a gun is the bad guy, lots of good people are going to die.
I agree 100%

3 Thugs Ambushed the Wrong Couple
While a couple was walking from their driveway to their home, three thugs attacked them in a surprise ambush. One of the intended victims was armed and prepared to defend himself, which he did, bringing an early halt to the attack. One of the thugs passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital, the other two ran away. I love happy endings!

CSU Becomes a Defenseless Victim Zone
Colorado State University has decided to end a 6 year policy of not prohibiting concealed carry on campus by 21 and older adult students for their personal defense, becoming yet another so-called "Gun Free Zone" where nut jobs are able to rack up high body counts as easily as shooting fish in a barrel, where rapists easily find defenseless women, and thugs mug with impunity.
Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said his office would "not hold or detain a valid permit holder who violates that policy, nor would his department have anything to do with enforcing that policy."
Update 1: NRA-ILA response.

AzCDL joins in amicus brief on Supreme Court gun-ban case
From the Arizona Citizens Defense League:
The Arizona Citizens Defense League has joined with other pro-rights individuals, groups and several district attorneys in the filing of an “amicus (friend of the court) brief” with the United State Supreme Court in the case of McDonald v. Chicago, the most critical Second Amendment case since the Heller decision upheld our individual right to keep and bear arms.
In April 2009, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled in Nordyke v. King that the Second Amendment is “incorporated” through the Fourteenth Amendment and applicable to all state and local governments. However in McDonald v. Chicago, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that the Second Amendment is NOT incorporated through the Fourteenth Amendment and that state and local government laws regarding firearms are not affected by the Second Amendment.
In September, the Supreme Court agreed to consider the McDonald case. We are asking the Supreme Court to hold that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments through the Fourteenth Amendment. You can find a copy of the amicus brief at: http://tinyurl.com/McdonaldAmicus.
Alan Korwin, AzCDL Member and prolific author, whose books include The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide, is following the McDonald case closely and has posted a plain English summary of the issues at stake at his website: http://www.gunlaws.com/McDonald_v_Chicago_BP_Amicus.htm . Alan’s extensive research and material were used in crafting our amicus brief, which was submitted by California attorney Chuck Michel (http://www.michelandassociates.com/).
You can also read more about the McDonald case at the Second Amendment Foundation’s website: http://www.chicagoguncase.com/

Arizona CCW Friendly Restaurants
Since I last mentioned the ASRPA list of CCW friendly restaurants, two new lists are now available. A lot of progress is being made through cordial conversations with restaurant owners who had placed gun free zone signs by explaining the benefits of taking them down along with the drawbacks of leaving them up. As a result, the list of restaurants supporting our right to defend our families is steadily growing. My family & friends are going out of our way to support the businesses who are supporting our rights, and I request that you do as well. Checking the list of supporters is an excellent way to find new restaurants to try out. You never know, you may find new restaurants to add to your list of favorites, I know that we have. I'll continue to add to this list as I discover additional resources and databases.

iPhone/iTouch App: Legal Heat
A nice addition to the online CCW travel tools that I've mentioned in the past is the new iPhone/iTouch application: Legal Heat. The Legal Heat application is a State by State CCW travel guide to Concealed Carry gun laws, including critical information such as prohibited areas & reciprocity.
I just placed the app on my iPhone today and it is rather handy to have at my fingertips. You can learn more about the app on iTunes, facebook, or the Legal Heat website.
