GOA has the scoop on why the Stimulus bill President Obama is pushing in addition to being just plain bad for our Country & economy, is also bad for gun owners. If you have not yet contacted your representatives to say NO to the stimulus bill, do so now. Before it's too late. If you don't communicate with your representatives to let them know how you feel now, you won't have a leg to belly-ache on if this stinking pile of sewage called a stimulus bill manages to get passed.
Update 1: The House passed the new version of the stimulus bill despite the fact that not a single Republican voted for it, and 7 Democrats even voted against it. As a slap in the face to all Americans, the House Democrats that voted for it didn't even bother to READ IT before they voted yes!
Update 2: Now that Obama has signed the stimulus bill into law, GOA has additional detail on the bad news.

So the bill is bad for gun owners because people with diagnosed mental illness might be prevented from buying a gun? Oh dear, how dare we prevent people too unstable to own a gun from owning a gun. The best thing for the Second Amendment is to permit idiots like Cho (Virginia Tech) can buy pistols and go on rampages, thus encouraging even stronger anti-gun laws. I really want to support the GOA, but not if they're going to cry wolf about shit like this.
With all due respect, I do support the bailout bill. My dad does own a lot of firearms but only as a hobby--it's his collection, and he doesn't use them at all. Plus we do like the idea of health IT, I don't fully approve but I don't think it's completely horrible either.
This bill is bad beacuse it intrudes into your personal life.Big brother is going to be watching you if it passes. All the people who want Obama to take care of them are not smart enough to realize that all freebies come with a price, and the price will be your right to privacy and your FREEDOM!!!!
Anonymous & lmee: I'm against the bill because Obama's own commission said that the bill will not do anything substantial in the first few years (1-2% boost at best in a perfect world), and even worse, actually becomes worse for the economy in the long run than if the government had done nothing at all.
More than that however, is the idea of Big Brother establishing a centralized database of every single private detail of my life & health. Do you really have so little regard for personal privacy? The government isn't even good at protecting the data it already has, the last thing I want to do is give them even more data to do such an awful job of protecting. It also essentially establishes a National ID. Next thing you know you'll need "travel papers" to cross State borders. For an idea of what such a database could look like check out the Order Pizza Video.
Maybe you're fine with Obama having access to your personal records because you trust him implicitly. But would you be fine with the next Bill Clinton or President Bush having access to them?
I do not support this bill and i do not want this Government in my life 24-7 Barack Obama deliberately and repeatedly lied to America's 90 million gun owners across the country when he insisted that he would not try to take away anyone's firearms. He is a liar there is no different between him and Hugo Chavez or Castro or any others dictator. He is going to financially destroy this country and the people.
