A criminal attacked a woman in a Home Depot parking lot in an apparent attempt to steal her purse. Luckily her husband was nearby who retrieved a loaded shotgun from their vehicle. He fired one shot & the criminal let her go to run away - he managed to find a police car which leads to the funny part:
"The suspect runs up to the police car saying, 'Let me in. They are shooting at me'."Yet another criminal foiled by law abiding gun owning Americans who refuse to be willing victims. Keep up the great work my fellow Americans - when we fight back we increase the risk to benefit ratio of crime. As the risk to benefit ratio climbs for criminals, more & more of them will either seek a safer career, or move to New York or Washington DC where they know all of their victims have been disarmed by their local government.
Police took the suspect into custody.
The only thing criminals in New York or Washington DC fear is their armed competition - fellow thugs fighting over who gets the majority of the spoils from their disarmed victims.

Chalk up another one for the good guys!
That's a one in a million... billion... maybe trillion situation. It's far more likely that man's son finds the shotgun and kills his best friend by accident.
Anonymous: actually you are incorrect. A lot of folks like to say that, but the data does not support it. The number of children under 18 killed by accidental gunfire every year is less than 80 on average (by the way - the majority of those 80 accidental shootings are done by adults who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol while handling their weapon). The number of criminal attacks warded off by law abiding gun owners is around 2.5 Million per year. So actually you would be much closer to say the gun is almost 31,250 times more likely to be used for self defense than to be the instrument of an accidental killing of a child. If you avoid drugs & alcohol while handling your weapon the odds are even better.
Sounds like the anonymous person above has a severe case of Hoplophobia. See definition here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoplophobia
This kind of story is what makes the anti-gun people nervous. No one was killed, and justice was served. Most of the time, criminals give up just at the site of a gun. I read these stories to my listeners all the time on the Armed Citizen Podcast.
LOL! Good stuff! That's what I'm talkin' about!
To the anonymous poster:
Uh... no, it happens often, actually. And would happen even more if ALL American citizens were armed! Sadly, they're not, due to the media making them think they're nice and safe with police being out there. But, they don't think of this fact: Police come AFTER the crime has been committed! They're not your personal body guard, to protect you 24/7, wherever you go. That's YOUR job, and having a gun, just like any cop, is the smart way to go about that.
If cops have reason to be armed, then so do citizens, because cops aren't by our side all the time, nor even a minority of the time. It only takes a few braincells to realize this fact.
Let's say you're even correct in your erroneous statement, that the chance of this is 1 in a billion: I ask you now: Would you be quoting statistics of the chance of this happening to someone, and saying how guns aren't needed... while this is happening to you? You're that "1 in a billion"!
Or would you thank that armed citizen for saving your life and posessions?
I'm strongly assuming you'd be smart and do the latter. If not, then you've got a few screws loose up there, for sure. :)
For anyone questioning the 2nd Amendment:
It was put in place to protect citizens against the biggest possible criminal of all: Corrupt, despotic, domestic government.
So, let's imagine crime only goes up [supposedly] because of mass-private gun ownership? That means nothing, because the 2nd Amendment has nothing to with private crimes, but rather GOVERNMENT crimes.
The protection against private criminals, just goes without saying, when citizens are armed already, to protect against government criminals. It's a nice secondary reason why we're armed in the first place! Not downplaying it, but just reminding everyone of the true, literal context of the 2nd Amendment! :)
End of story.
Good day! :)
Great comments John, Armed, & Stephen. Could not have said it better myself :)
