TX: Elementary School Increases Safety

At least one school district in Texas has taken steps to increase safety by granting teachers permission to conceal carry. Not a full fledged step away from gun free zones, but definitely a step in the right direction for the safety of everyone in the school:
. . . When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started," Thweatt said. "Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying 'sic ’em’ to a dog."

Texas law outlaws firearms on school campuses "unless pursuant to the written regulations or written authorization of the institution." . . .

    Do you think the bulletproof backpacks I saw in the US concealed carry association newsletter make sense? It seems like most talk is about reactions to shootings in schools. Doesn't a bulletproof backpack or notebook offer kids a safety barrier that can help them before they get shot?
