Say Uncle, Sebastian, Of Arms and the Law, The NSSF, and the NRA have all covered quite nicely the NICS improvement bill which fixes a lot of problems in the existing NICS legislation. The VPC folks are now calling it a pro-gun Trojan Horse because it improves gun rights which is a direction the VPC does not want to go (The VPC would be more aptly named "Center for the Banning of all weapons"). What better endorsement could we ask for than the Violence Policy Center Folks saying it is bad?
. . . if you start looking at the details of the bill--especially after NRA-backed changes made by Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn--it becomes clear that the measure is nothing less than a pro-gun Trojan Horse. That's why my organization, the Violence Policy Center, and other national gun control groups, have voiced their strong concerns about the version of the bill that was passed by Congress . . .

Any gun control bill deserves a veto death. Even if it causes concern with the antis.
Yes, Killing all of the bad gun laws is much better than fixing any of them I agree 100%. Especially the ban against full auto assault rifles manufactured after 1986 - I'd LOVE to see that one go away. Why should we limit the supply to such an extent that only the rich can afford to buy those now rare artifacts, unless you're a criminal in which case you can just buy a recently manufactured select fire full auto on the black market.
I have some mixed feelings about this particular bill, but overall I feel it has good corrections in it that takes existing bad legislation in a good direction, although admittedly it does not bring us all the way to the desired end goal of no gun regulations whatsoever. Perhaps our nation is not yet ready for that ultimate goal, I certainly don't believe our current Democrat controlled congress would approve of such a repeal at this point.
