She's a hero in my book. Not only did she save her own life, she also took two thugs off the streets that will no longer be free to search for new victims. One is resting 6 feet under, and the other is in critical condition while facing a murder charge for participating in a Felony where someone died. Her reasoning for having decided to carry: "I choose to carry a concealed firearm, because even though I am immensely grateful for the protection from our police departments, I realize they're not God, so they can't be everywhere at once." A wise decision indeed- a choice she's no doubt doubly grateful for now.
As we can clearly see, a gun in the hand is infinitely more valuable than a 911 dispatcher on the phone. The Police do the best they can with the resources they have, but when seconds count, the Police are still going to be minutes away.

This woman is correct.
As are YOU.
It all comes down to common sense, in that YOU are (always) your FIRST, BEST defense.
Good post.
Happy endings all around.
She was very lucky she was able to fool the attackers into giving her back her purse. Considering they followed her into her apartment, this might be one where "situational awareness" was lacking -- but I'm glad she was able to respond the way she was.
ReplyDeleteGreat story Dustin. I was waiting for it. She never even pulled the revolver from her purse before she started firing. That is my kind of woman.
ReplyDeleteBob: Yes we are.
ReplyDeleteWoodsong: I'm glad too.
Melissa: Yes that was a very smart move on her part. Saved valuable time, and preserved the element of surprise.
Women are so vulnerable to such violence and it is so sad to say that most of them don't even get the chance to depend themselves. It is a good thing to carry weapons for protection or better yet train to be a strong fighter and kick some butt.
