Furthermore, if you must exit your vehicle, the firearm must remain unloaded and be secured (locked) within the vehicle, out of plain view (ARS 13-3102.I.1) Use caution and common sense if you must exit the vehicle with a firearm to secure it in the trunk (avoid causing a potentially serious disturbance)

What I was told by my CCW instructor was if its going to make a scene just keep it concealed sit in your car in the parking lot and wait for your kid to come out.

After all we dont have metal detectors or check points at our schools parking lots, the only way your going to get nabbed is if your retarded.. Concealed means concealed. (I dont condone breaking laws I never do this and I was just stating that the old 1,000 feet of a school is incorrect)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4063163257624231557.post-14123470752468579342008-04-07T12:40:00.000-07:002008-04-07T12:40:00.000-07:00Anonymous said: "you can carry into a school parki...Anonymous said: "you can carry into a school parking as long as you do not exit your vehicle"

Actually under current AZ law that is not true - having a loaded gun on school grounds will get you thrown into jail if you get caught. Currently you must unload your weapon & store it out of sight before you drive onto school property, after which if you exit your vehicle you must lock the doors. What I usually do is park off of the school property, then walk to the school so that I can avoid the hassle of loading & unloading my gun.Dustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10234393631788374972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4063163257624231557.post-40750415920618966452008-04-07T11:10:00.000-07:002008-04-07T11:10:00.000-07:00"Yeah; it is against the law to have a loaded, unc..."Yeah; it is against the law to have a loaded, uncased gun even in your car in the parking lot, and technically within 1,000 feet of a school campus. Needs to be empty and locked in an approved case or in your trunk"

Thats not true.. The old 1,000 feet law was ruled unconstitutional since some people live within 1,000 feet of schools and were not allowed to have guns legally same with folks who just drove by the school they would of been in violation also, so this law was scrapped and ruled unconstitutional.

As of the last CCW refresher course I took (January 08) you can carry into a school parking as long as you do not exit your vehicle, but if you are exiting your vehicle you must unload your weapon if possible without causing a ruckus.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4063163257624231557.post-11079461419677572742008-04-06T18:39:00.000-07:002008-04-06T18:39:00.000-07:00I am a juvenile probation officer in Texas that ju...I am a juvenile probation officer in Texas that just came across this blog this evening. In Texas, juvenile officers are prohibited from carrying a firearm while on the job. Ironically, I supervise juvenile gang members who are on supervision for gun related offenses; however, I am not afforded the right to protect myself. Last year, I personally took a loaded gun off of two known gang members; however, I can't carry a concealed weapon while on the job. It is unbelievable!!

Any suggestions on how to go about getting the laws changed. My representative doesn't seem interested in pursuing the matter.

Brian from TexasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4063163257624231557.post-85908996261492835332008-04-06T09:04:00.000-07:002008-04-06T09:04:00.000-07:00Anonymous: - please tell me what is wrong with all...Anonymous: - please tell me what is wrong with allowing law abiding adults 21 & over who have been fingerprinted, FBI & AZ DPS background checked, who already carry their concealed weapon everywhere else they go (crowded movie theaters, rush hour traffic, crowded shopping malls, etc) to cross the imaginary "gun free zone" line that surrounds AZ college & university campuses?
