The other thing is that there are many of us who are not willing to let the 2nd Amendment fall - there are enough of us that any government that were to try to go door to door taking guns would meet with severe resistance. Obama has demanded his commitments be pushed through congress at a rapid rate to overcome sensable discussion time that could allow for any contrary outcome.
